Nursing Grants and Financial Aid for Nursing Students

Grants Dept.

From the Office of Administration

There is a high demand for quality nurses and this demand is growing every day as more and more baby boomers start to get older and require assistance. Aside from that, new and larger hospitals are being built that require nursing staff. These factors all work in your favor when looking for a Free Nursing Grant or Nursing Student financial aid. There's lots of options available to you and there are more being created every day, so make sure you take the time to fully research and ask your student counselor regularly for any new nursing grants that you qualify for.

Before you do anything else, you first have to fill out the FAFSA form as fully and honestly as possible, this is is the first step in applying for any type of financial aid and based on the information you provide here, your student counselor will let you know what free nursing grants you qualify for.

A good place to start looking for a nursing grant is the American Association Of Colleges Of Nursing. There are grants and other nursing student aid programs being added frequently, so you must be vigilant and keep an open eye. There's no limit to the amount of nursing grants you can apply for, so apply to as many as you qualify for to help cover the cost of your nursing education.

There are certain things you need to know about each of the nursing grants available which will give you some insight into what they are looking for when you apply for them, this will give you a better chance of being awarded the grant. For example, which organization is offering the grant, where they are and what the reason is making it available in the first place, in other words what is the void they are trying to fill, is it a specific niche in the nursing field, a specific location or hospital that they are trying to staff etc.

The government and the various universities offer many nursing grants, because there is such a high demand for nurses. This point cannot be overstated: Be sure to ask your counselor frequently about new programs and grants that you qualify for. Don't be afraid to drive them crazy :) Too many students ask once and assume they've received all the benefits they can, this is more than typically no the case.

So ask often, ask frequently and always be honest. Happy Nursing!
